The long-term plan is to move defining common hooks (like “after install” and “after update”) from user’s responsibility to plugin’s. One approach is to use some sort of standardized file in plugin root that tells plugin manager what scripts to execute on certain events. This is commonly mentioned as “add packspec support”. This should remove the need for custom hooks for most users.
